Twelve blocks, four suppliers, brought onto one contract
Two blocks had no current alarm certificate. Every block was baseline surveyed, the defects were priced and closed, and the portfolio now renews on one date.
Panel swap in a 42-bed care home, no hour of lost detection

Questions we get asked
How often does a fire alarm need servicing?
At least every six months under BS 5839-1, by a competent person. Emergency lighting needs a monthly function test and an annual three-hour duration test under BS 5266-1. Extinguishers are serviced annually under BS 5306-3. A fire risk assessment is reviewed at least yearly.
What does fire alarm servicing cost in Manchester?
It depends on the size of the system and how many duties are on the contract, so we price after a free survey. You get a written price with any defects itemised, and there is no charge for either.
Who is responsible for fire alarm maintenance?
The “responsible person” under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005: usually the employer, owner, landlord or managing agent in control of the premises. They must keep fire safety systems maintained by a competent person, and the certificate pack is how they prove it.
I have a deadline from the fire officer. What happens?
Give us the date on the letter. We plan back from it: survey, written price, any remedials, then the certificate pack. Real dates are agreed with you at survey, in writing, so nothing on this page is a promise we cannot keep.
Can fire and security be on one contract?
Yes. Fire alarms, emergency lighting, extinguishers, CCTV, door entry and access control sit on one contract with one renewal date and one point of contact. Most of our clients start with fire and add security at the first renewal.
What paperwork do I get?
A certificate for every system after every visit, a defect schedule with prices where anything is found, and the logbook entries. The pack is written so you can forward it to an insurer, freeholder or fire officer without editing it.
Can you take over an existing contract?
Yes. We start with a baseline survey of what is installed and what paperwork exists, then price the contract and any defects we find. You do not need to wait for the current contract to end before we survey.
What if the alarm fails out of hours?
Call 07703 295654. It is answered 24/7 by a person, not voicemail, and contract clients get priority response. If a fault leaves part of the building unprotected, we agree an interim measure with you before we leave.
