What fire alarm category does a care home need?
Almost always Category L1, full automatic detection throughout, because sleeping residents and delayed evacuation demand the earliest warning.
The fire risk assessment confirms the category, but for registered care the default expectation from fire authorities is L1. If your current system is anything less, that gap belongs at the top of the action plan.
How do we reduce fire alarm false alarms without reducing protection?
By finding the cause: detector type, siting and environment account for most repeat false alarms, and all three can be fixed.
